Pain Control

When Dr. Tara has to numb your child’s tooth, she puts “sleepy juice” (lidocaine) on it in a very slow manner, thus decreasing and in most cases, eliminating pain altogether.  In most cases, the child does not even know that he or she has had a shot! Dr. Tara goes out of her way to make your child is as comfortable as possible and constantly checks on the child’s comfort during treatment. How long your child is numb after treatment varies but is typically gone after two to three hours. The main thing after anesthesia is to carefully watch your child and not let him or her chew the tongue or inside of the cheek because when it “wakes up”, it will hurt badly if this happens.
